Basics Of Selecting A Pond Aerator System

Do you have pond at home? The water quality inside the ponds must be manage properly or should be aesthetically enhanced. The different types of pond aerators are the air diffused system, surface spray aerator, and the horizontal aspirator or mixers. Of course, you will want to experience the maximum benefit that each type of pond aerator can provide, but you have to be able to carry its own appropriately. One type may be different from the other. Here are few points that will guide you with the basics regarding the selection and installation of your chosen pond aeration system.

- How to Select the Right Aeration System for Your Pond

Before you choose the right aeration system, then you will have to consider various things first. The shape of your pond, the size, and how deep your pond is will dictate what type best suits for you. You have to be objective when choosing the right system. Experts recommend you to have 2HP for 1 surface acre.

1. The Surface Spray System – Know that this type of pond aerator system is appropriate for ponds that has 15 ft deep or less. You can choose this when your preference is fountain spray aesthetics.

2 Diffused Aeration System – This is good for ponds that has 15 feet depth or more than that and when you are desiring for surface spray. When this system will be placed in less than 15 ft, then the efficiency of the system will fail but can be enhanced with the use of diffuser manifolds. However, you cannot use this type when the pond has only 8 ft deep or less.

3. Aspirators and Mixers – This is good for ponds that has 9 ft deep or less wherein there is dictation of the lateral movement.

- How to Install the System

You can only position the system in two different ways such as the anchoring and the mooring. Anchoring means that the system is placed on the bottom of the pond while the mooring means positioning the system on the edges of the pond (above or beneath). You have to ensure that you have the best materials and that all methods applied are secured and appropriate. One thing that will make processes in order is to have your advance planning.

You might need different materials which will include the rebar anchors, cinder blocks, stainless steel, and shovel conduit. When installing a diffused air system, you will just need a boat and not with the anchoring or mooring way.
